Research
We develop and apply both quantum mechanical and classical electromagnetic theories and computational methods to study novel physical properties of solid materials. Our current research activities are focused on:
  1. Nano-structures and metamaterials: Structural, electronic, electrical, optical and magnetic properties of nanotubes, atomic chains, nanowires and monolayers; Electromagnetic and optical properties of plasmonic nanostructures and optical metamaterials.
  2. Advanced metal oxides and their interfaces: Ferroelectric, magneto-electric coupling and magneto-optical properties of multiferroic oxides; Anormalous Hall effect, orbital magnetization and Dirac monopole in ferromagnetic and topological insulators.
  3. Spin physics and spintronic materials: Generation and manipulation of spin polarization and spin current in novel materials; Search for half-metallic metals and topological materials.
